Re heating shoulder

How are you supposed to re heat pork shoulder ? Smoke yesterday , now it ( left overs ) has been in fridge and I want to re heat proerly . I have never had any luck re heating anything I smoked except sauage . Am calling for advice . Thanks

Whole shoulder? Or pulled pork?

I'm not an expert, so I doubt I can help, but I think that will play into the way it should be heated.

It all depends. For smaller amounts wifey and I will use the microwave. Large amounts will either go into the oven or into a skillet.

If were just warmin some up, I'll use the microwave.

If I got it vac bagged an frozen, I put it in a pan a water near boilin an let it warm ta 160° er so. Stays nice an juicy that way. Durin caterin, if we find it's wantin ta dry out some I simply add in a bit of apple juice an stir well.

Another good thin ta do is warm it up on a griddle with some soft taco shells an some onions an green peppers, add the pork ta the shell an top with cheese, lettuce, onions an peppers, roll em up. Good eatin.

I agree with Travcoman.. Today I re heated some pulled in the microwave (covered) heated up some tortilla's and threw on my favorite condiments. Awesome leftovers. I have in the past taken pulled pork and put it in a skillet with a bit of butter.. yummmmm

Now buddy I'm going to tell you like I have been saying for awhile go get a pasta pot or steamer. Not the vegis steamer folding up thingy. Gat the pasta pot with a sleeve strainer and just steam it hot and it will heat it in no time and it won't dry out the meat. I did 60lbs of PP for the beast feast and I steamed it hot in about 2 hpurs rotating the meat so it was ALL really hot when it hit the tables.

I use the microwave at 40% power, mix every 3 minutes or so until warmed up. Does a good job to get it warm without cooking/drying it further.

I am vac packing everything now, so I put the pack into boiling water for 5 min or so. Maybe a little longer if frozen. Any other way I try to reheat pork, regardless of the cut - PP, ribs, etc, it taste like cr*p to me. Warming in the vac pack works like a champ.

Haven't tried Mark's steaming. That might be OK too.

I like to heat my PP in the vacume bags as well.

I'm gonna third or fourth reheating in the vac bags. I've tried reheating vac packed ribs, brisket, pp, corned beef and veggies in boiling water, and all have turned out great. my only complaint would be that some things come out a little more moist than I would like, but that's worlds better than too dry.

Depending on my time frame, I will use the crock pot with some finishing sauce if I'm not pressed.

I don't think it matters how you reheat it as long as you don't cook it anymore..... just heat it up. Micro set on defrost or low temp... put it in a pan with some juice and a lid on low... boil a vacuum packed bag.... as long as you don't get to a temp that is cooking it, should be just as good as when you slammed it off the smoker. Mine is.

ME TOO ,That is the reason for my post . I reheayed in the oven and it just ruined the taste . When I do brisket there is very little if anything left to warm up but when I do iuse a vac bag and the microwave on low . I hate that dead meat twang taste. Pork I thought would reheat just fine since it was pulled but boy was I wrong . THANKS TO EACH of you . This place is really a user friendly place .

this is how i do mine, but it never fails, the middle of the bag is still cold.  i have boiled (or maybe i was just a hot simmer) for 15 minutes and the middle is still cold.  how much are you putting in your bags?
