I raise black angus. They stay on the grass pasture until they reach 900lbs or so. I bring one up to the farm to feed a mixture of cracked corn, soybean meal and rolled oats for about 4 weeks. (also grass hay)
Then off to the butcher.
My neighbor raises red angus and swears they are the best.
To each his own I guess.
