We had a HRC fun hunt/test for charity this past weekend and of course we did some training. The weather is finally starting to turn here in the great lakes state!
I decided to do some pulled pork tacos for the boys lunch. Problem is the hrc was doing extremely well selling lunch so I decided to save the already made tacos for another day. All the lunches sold went to the charity so I didn’t want to interfere with that.
People always come to our tailgate setup and eat because we have so many great cooks! I’m sure we would have cost the charity a lot of money so it was the right call.
So I froze a bunch of the pork for use another day but not before I ate some of them!
By the way the hunt test, raffles, and lunches sold raised $4700 for the scholarship we are putting up.
Butts halved to fit in bags and sealed up Thursday night.
Dropped them in the drink Thursday evening. 165 degrees 24 hours cook time.
Pulled and rebagged Friday night. Dropped on sv Saturday morning to reheat. Worked well we just didn’t end up eating it. Oh well it’s in the freezer now!
The pork came out great! Really tender in the sv.
Taco with fresh cilantro pico the wife made.
Taco with some fresh lime slaw the wife made.
Yellow bottle is the ghost/pineapple hot sauce I made last year. Orange bottle is orange/habanero sauce I made last year. All peppers from the garden.
Scout relaxing and waiting to get some training in.
A few of the dogs we trained with on Sunday. Good group of guys and some really skilled dogs!
We ate like kings Saturday night when most of the crowd left. I’ll look and see if I have anymore pics from Saturday nights food or sundays food and post when I have more time.
Overall great event and money raised for a great cause! And when some of the guys saw what i put together they hired me to cater our June hunt test! Gonna need a lot more pulled pork tacos!
