price question on bellies

Hey all -

Curious what you guys pay for bellies/#. First time I got some for 2.09/lb and now all of a sudden they want 4.99/lb.

Its almost as if they suddenly had someone interested int them(me) so now they have to jack up the prices.

PS any Minnesotan's know where to get some bellies other than von hansons?

We'll around me there are quite a few meat markets. You could try Linenfelser's in Albertville or a-1 meats in Maple lake or call Sam's in Maple grove .they have ribs that are all ready done and they are quite good.call and ask for the meat dept.and ask.This all depends where your at in the state ,I don't see the location on your signature.Good luck there are lots of places besides Von Hansons they are very proud of there meat and charge accordingly.Bill

Sounds like the place I just bought mine at. I called the day before I went down there, and they told me $1.89/lbs, get there the next day and they wanted $2.59

Here in north Fla I can get some bellies for about 1.89lb or something like that and less if you buy a case or so. But piney says to make sure that they or you cut the skin off first before you smoke them.

The ones I just got were skinless. I have done the ones with the skin on, and removed it after smoking, kind of a PITA. Some people like to leave the rind on and eat it that way.

Thanks Bill. I'm in the southern burbs (Apple Valley, Lakeville, Farmington area). Know of any good meat lockers that may have the goodies?

I ordered a case through the meat manager at Super Value up here in Northern MN and it was 1.89/lb last week.

How many bellies are in a case? And is that with the skin on or off. Thanks.

It is supposed to be here on Monday so I will let you know how many are in the case. Skin is off and cases weigh between 40-50lbs.

The two bellies I just did were 12 & 13 lbs, so it sounds like 4 bellies to the case. Thanks.
