Old age is a terrible thing. While getting the turkey out of the freezer today I found a 5# bone in pork sirloin roast that I vaguely recall buying but can't for the life of me remember why.

Help a poor old dude out and tell me what I could do with it, maybe more creative than just a pork roast.

Not much help but don’t cook it like a butt.

I would take the opposite approach...i would cook it like a butt. The only time i pick up those kinds of pork roast is when they are marked down on sale for really cheap (~$1.20/#) and they are the right size for the amount of PP my family can consume in a couple meals. I inject them often time with Tony C's creole butter or garlic and herb butter (for moisture and flavor) and then smoke till it falls apart and makes PP. You could smoke it to about 145 Degrees IT and slice it if ya want, though. You can use the bone to flavor some beans and taters and then give it to the dog. (he/she will love you for it!) Just some ideas....

Happy Smoking,
phatbac (Aaron)
