Pork Roll (Taylor)

Not a Big Deal, Just a Great Lunch for the Bear.
No, I didn't make the Pork Roll itself---It's too easy to find & buy around my Neck of The Woods!! And we like both "Taylor" & "Case" Brands.

I love Pork Roll Sammies every now & then---Probably why I've been eating them for over 60 years.

So All I do is make the little cuts around the perimeter, to keep the slices from curling up when they're being cooked. I prefer Frying over Grilling, because they stay nice & Juicy when fried.
Then I usually only add some American Cheese & Mustard---This time Spicy Mustard.
And that's it---I like green olives with my Pork Roll Sammies too.

Thanks Guys! Enjoy the Pics:

Little cuts keep the slices from curling, or "Coning":

Gotta add some Mustard & Cheese (American works Great with Pork Roll):

I like to Nuke it, just long enough to melt the Cheese & Steam the Rolls (About 30 seconds):

Close it up & add some Olives. Lunch Is Served:

How, having been on this earth for 75 years, have I never heard of pork roll?

Love fried Taylor Ham! I’ve been eating that since I was around 8. Fast forward 56 years later I’m still here. I guess it’s a health food.

Pork roll is one of those things everyone’s gotta try. This PA country boy has family in Philadelphia and grew up going to the beach in south Jersey, and I LOVE pork roll! Looks great,Bear!

I just made 10 lbs. I followed this persons recipe to the “t”. Turned out pretty darn good. http://wedlinydomowe.pl/en/viewtopic.php?t=6212

Yup, There's a couple guys on here that make their own & they look Great!!

LOL---Yup, must be a Health Food. I started around 8 years old too, and that was 61 years ago.
Guess we've been lucky to have it nearby.

This stuff is basically from Jersey, but they sell a lot of it in Eastern Pennsy.

Probably MD and DE too, and I would imagine Eastern NY.

Other than that, I think it's only on the Internet.

Looks tasty John! I like your anti-curling method - I like to use sliced beef stick instead of pepperoni (too greasy) on some of my pizzas, and use that rim cutting method to keep them from curling.

Looks good My kind of Sandwich Is it similar to Bologna ?

Thank You Gary!
It's really hard to describe:
It's way better than Spam. Mrs Bear won't touch Spam, but she loves Pork Roll.
I'd have to say the flavor is like a cross between Summer Sausage, Bologna, and a good Hot Dog.
And Thanks for the Like.

Can't say I've ever had pork roll we notch bologna the same way around the edges to stop curling.
I lived a shelter life we had to eat what it walked around and the last part through the fence before we had any good stuff. :D
