My neighbor cut down a plum tree and wanted to know if I wanted any of the wood for my smoker. Any comments on plum as a smoke source?

I have used pear wood for almost 3 years with good results. The research I have done suggest that any tree that has fruit is good for smoking.
But I take the bark off to be on the safe side.
