My c.c is 36 x 48 I am thinking two maybe 3 racks but want to make sure it makes sense my f2f plate is 12 inches off bottom leaving me 24 inches to top of c.c any thoughts thanks

Subtracting 4 about inches for space between the rf plate and first rack and about an inch for the rack leaves 19 inches of free space, second rack will reduce that to a bit less than 18” of “extra” space to work with. Additional racks are now a function of a realistic assessment on what you plan to cook and how much. If you are planning to occasionally smoke large critter parts, standing rib roasts, whole turkeys, etc you will need a lot more space than someone who only ever cooks butts, briskets, ribs and chicken parts. Whichever spacing configuration you chose needs to provide about 2” of free air space above whatever is loaded on the rack. Also keep in mind each additional rack will have a effect on air flow and temps within the cc.
Personally, on a 24x36 build, I use two racks, with around 9-10” clearance over the top of the bottom rack.
Good luck.

Also my opening from my FB to the c.c is 35x12 inches I have a cylinder c.c 36x48 I am thinking my FB should be like 36 x 30 x24 which is 25,920 cubic inches I according to the calculations I only need 16,123 cubic inches I would like to make 36 x 24x19 which is 16,41t cubic inches but I don't know if 24 inches is enough height to burn since my opening will take up 12 inches in height of that any help would be great thanks

Bottom of lower rack flush with bottom edge of door, should slide in and out without lifting rack
