Pizza!

Because a good friend hooked me up with a custom 3/8" pizza steel yesterday and just had to give it it's maiden voyage.

Used my Neopolitan dough recipe and a simple sauce consisting of crushed San Marzanos, tomato paste, salt, sugar, and basil. Topped with a mix of part skim and whole milk mozz and some pepperonis. Finished with a drizzle of Graza Drizzle olive oil before going into the 550° oven that I had pre-heating the steel for a good hour or so. Then in for about 6 mins, then kicked on the broiler for the last 45 seconds to give it the char I wanted.

Got the wife to hold it up like Simba to get that undercarriage shot. 😆

We haven't done pizza for awhile. May need to steal the idea. Nice looking pizza.

Looks great Quig, even topped with crushed red pepper like I do.

Gotta have the pepper, it ties it all together. Plus, I always toss the excess flakes from my plate onto my kid's slice when she's not looking...she's a wuss that thinks ketchup is spicy. 😆
Sounds like my wife, I always have to spice mine up on the plate or just cook it separate.

Looks perfect. Nothing better than just pepperoni and crushed red pepper. Maybe some homemade ranch but not necessary

Ha, two pizza threads together here. I posted this on the other thread but I will copy it here in case any one missed it and might want to give it a try.

If you wanted to easily and quickly make your own simple crust, this works well for me.

Mix equal parts of Plain Greek Yogurt and Self Rising flour in a bowl. Hand squish together works best. Garlic salt or other seasonings can be mixed with the flour before combining for flavoring if you like. Let it set in a ball for 5-7 min before hand spreading it out on a pizza pan. It prob could be rolled, never tried. Two cups each work well for an oiled 16 in pizza pan to give a medium thick crust. Then you can add what ever sauce, cheese and toppings you desire.
