I have been searching for mods for my pittmaster deluxe to make it more efficient, and I am having a hard time finding info on mods.  I have heard lowering down the smoke stack will help as well as putting in a baffle near the fire box.  I am looking for some simple mods to improve the efficiency of my smoker but I don't want to put a lot of money in it and do not want to completely rebuild it either.  Any info will be appreciated!!!

I have been thinking about my mods, I am thinking that I will start with extending the stack to grill level will be my first step.  However I have another question, when I extend the stack I want to be able to monitor temp better, so I want to add or replace my thermometer.  What is the best way to do this? Should I leave in the stock location and replace the thermometer with some thing else?? or should I drill a new hole and install a new thermo near grill level?? I have had digital thermometers in the past with horrible results, so I a looking at possibly a manual gauge.  Any suggestion's??
