pitboss vs camp chef

thinking of getting one or the other . but would like to know if anyone has had any problems and or breakdowns with them.

I have been burnt before with an electric smoker due to wiring , cooking grid burning out , the controls not working.

so I am kind of on the fence with buying one.

I know they do a "good" job but the ones I have seen are only six months old and are not used a lot . compared to what I would use it for , over night smokes , long smokes .

You will find YouTube videos on that subject with very thorough comparos and reviews.

after looking at you tube , the videos do not tell how much/long the smoker is used and if the smoker breaks down or wears out.

I have a Camp Chef Woodwind and know that it is guaranteed for the first three years. If any problems crop up within those first three Camp Chef will replace any defective parts.

I will also add to BandCollectors post that Camp Chefs customer service is outstanding. They really stand behind their products and if you have any issues they make it right. Ive only had my Woodwind for 3 weeks and couldnt be happier. I did a ton of research before finally pulling the trigger.

I have never used a camp chef, I do have a couple of pit boss's. the 820 is 3+ yrs old before I bought it second hand last yr. from a guy that used 3 of them for his food truck/trailer catering business. It has seen a few thousand pounds of meat in its lifetime. I had to change the temp probe last fall. The previous owner did no maintenance to it he told me. I have at least 500# in it since I got it. I use it as my work smoker and bought a new 700 for home as I like it that much.
