Hi all
I'm a newbie from Alberta and just bought my second electric Pit Boss Smoker. It's the Silver Star 3 series. I think I'm having a couple of problems. First of all my chips seem to only burn at one end of my tray and second when I turn on the smoke button the temperature rises up to 225- 230 F. Top picture is at 170 F for 2 hr and 20 minutes and 2nd photo is 225 F for 2hrs. My question is should you be able to smoke low and slow? Also shouldn't the wood chips burn from both ends?

Welcome! I do not have this smoker so take any advice for what you paid for it. You probably want the the chips to start at one end and move slowly to the other. If all chips smoke at the same time you'll have too much smoke, then none. Electric smokers produce better burn at higher temps as you've noticed. If you want to cold smoke or med smoke for sausage etc. look into a tube or maze. You can also search her for "mailbox mod"
