Pictures Sometimes Are X's

Some pictures show up, others are just x's.  Why?

Ones that you are posting or ones that you are looking at on other threads?

Sometimes people post photos that are on hosting sites like Flickr, shutterfly, etc... And the account gets closed or the photos get moved and the link is no longer valid. So that can be one reason. Or the original poster has removed them.
