I'm looking at a long list of pellet grills and would like anyone's feedback on them.

Oklahoma Joe
Pitboss (sportsman series)
Louisiana grills (black label series or SL series)
Masterbuilt gravity feed charcoal
Green mountain grills (not sure which one)

If anyone has other options for me to look at please drop them here! My budget is around 800 or less. I'd prefer under 7.

Also give Camp Chef a look. You can order through Lowe's or Home Depot and get a better price than ordering direct from CC. I've done around 10 cooks on my SG24 WIFI, and am pleased with the results so far.

The flavor of food done with wood/charcoal is slightly better, but I think it's a fair tradeoff for the convenience of being able to go off and do other things while cooking. I had an 8lb butt smoking while I did other stuff around the farm today.

I can speak for GMG. I have had 3 of various sizes for competition and will say was only satisfied with pork butt cooks where temp control didnt need to be very precise. I loved them for searing with their stainless divider with openings but uneven temps made it frustrating

I moved to Traeger pro series and like even temps much better but high heat doesnt work well. I will say almost all pellet grills can be modified with a sear attachment. I dont know what your budget is and how much space is needed but towards end of my competition days I had pleasure of cooking on a Yoder and it is by far my favorite

*just saw budget in OP. Yoder would be out unless bought used*

Wifi is definitely something I want. I like long cooks. Brisket is my favorite and 2 of 3 times I've made it my trager has errored on me!! I want to be able to d things around the house and maybe even get a workout in while cooking!! Thanks for the info!

I have an older Pit Boss that I really like. That being said the charcoal gravity feed most definitely has my attention.

I'll second douge's Camp Chef recommendation. Flavor can be improved by the use of an amazen tube. Get one of the SG's or Woodwinds and you can sear. You can get GrillGrates and sear even better or get the SideKick accessory and do even more.

CampChef's WiFi is weak but a cheap TP-Link WiFi extender from Amazon will fix that for you.

Right now I'm pretty interested in this unit. I like the combo idea for middle of the week as I love to grill as much as I can. I also like the damper to use the gas chamber as a cold smoke chamber while running the pellet side smoking a brisket over pellets and cold smoking a provolone cheese or Swiss on the other side.

My son in law has a Cabelas rebranded PitBoss pooper. I use the term "pooper" as he has replaced the controller twice, the auger motor, and keeps a supply of shear bolts to the auger as they break often.

I have a Masterbuilt pooper that is a OK. I'm about to spend more for a replacement controller than I paid for the grill.

For your budget, I’d certainly recommend Grilla Grills Silverback model. I think it is the best bang for buck going.

I don't think Louisiana grills get enough credit. Granted, they share the same parent company as pit boss, but they are much higher quality I(MO). While I don't have the SL series (I have one of their champion series) I can only say good things about them. They make a good product with (in my experience) great customer service. Plus, if you buy it at Costco you get Costco's additional warranty.

Five year warranty on Pit Boss and they're good about shipping out replacement parts. No pellet grill is going to run for five years without a few parts being changed out, especially if you use it frequently. Almost all pellet grills are made with extremely similar Chinese manufactured parts (MAK and Cookshack being the exceptions and they're $$$$).

I really like the idea of the 5 year warranty, especially because I'll use it quite a bit so parts are sure to wear out. I also like their dual pellet and gas combo units that have the damper so you can use the gas side as a cold smoker. Seems like best bang for buck I think.

My GMG Daniel Boone still going strong after years of use. Not a single problem. Looking to upgrade to a high end unit. But for the price you can’t go wrong with a GMG.

First use of the GMG I was lucky and picked up and I must say I'm digging it doing a dam fine job surpassing my bradly already did a side by side back bacon comparison and 3 hours in said to he'll with the bradly and put it in the GMG lol man it's effortless and looking fantastic already I can't wait to do more. I can't speak of other pellet grills as this is my first but I'm dam impressed

Nice.
I don't eat that much loin bacon so I give it away in trade. Most goes to our egg supplier.
I use a smoke tube in the pellet pooper to perfume the meat with proper smoke flavor.
Pellet poopers mostly use the pellets for heating the cook chamber.

I would cross out the Masterbuilt Gravity off your list and replace it with the Char-Griller 980. From all the reviews I have seen it is by far a superior design.

Sounds like you really don't like your pellet grill. Do you have other grills that you use?
