My wife and I are thinking of adding a deck onto on house and I want to be able to have all my grills and smokers on it so I’m looking at ideas of what people have for deck kitchens/grilling stations. My main cooker is my GMG Daniel Boone. I’ve heard of people taking the legs off them and building a platform and making it a “built in” unit, so interested in something like that. I’d like to build some kind of prep area (no sink) near it with storage ideas. My plan is to cover the top of that in stainless (I work for a metal supplier). Not sure on overall size of the deck yet, but part will be covered and part will be uncovered so we can put our chiminea and my stick burner on that side. I’d like to keep the Daniel Boone under the covered area, but plan to have an exhaust pipe or have it near the edge

Sounds like a great idea!
I guess you have a couple of months to make a plan.
Or can you build up there right now?

Yeah I’m thinking around March-April to start. I’ve been saying since we moved in I’m going to put a deck on, just never got around to it. Now with using my grills and smokers 4-5 times a week, it gets old having to drag them out the garage every time and set up. I’d like to just uncover and get to work. Plus be out of the elements, and have a place to relax and enjoy friends and family on, without having to miss out due to being on the opposite side of the house, and, with an almost 3 year old, I don’t have to worry about him wandering into the street or neighbors yards. We have a nice big open back yard, with a separate area for the dogs, Nice shed I just built 2 years ago, and a nice fire pit, we would like to start hosting more and entertaining people, so a deck would go a long way.
