I was wondering what flavor Pecan wood would give off for my pork shoulder? I usually use a combination of apple and cherry along with lump charcoal. Is pecan even a good choice for pork? as I have several smokes under my belt, I am still new to smoking especially compared to many here.

Any advice and or opinions will be greatly appreciated

Thanks and happy smoking this weekend!!!!!!

Pecan is similar to hickory just not as strong. Will go good with pork. I am going to use some with ribs today.

I use Pecan all the time. I prefer it to Hickory actually, although there's nothing wrong with hickory. I think pecan is not quite as acrid as hicory and also seems to not burn as hot. This is good for me. I've used it a long time with butts, shoulders, chicken, salmon and had great results.
