I live in New Mexico. I came across a furniture maker that is selling pure charcoal pecan and misquite wood for $15.00 20 lbs. is that a good deal? or is there a process for making wood lump charcoal that maybe he did not do, any thoughts ?

also does the type of wood of lump charcoal affect the flavor of the meat?

I would talk to Bob (desertlites) before you go an buy any of the "pure" charcoel and see what he thinks. He makes his own I believe. It's sounds alittle high priced to me but I'm in Fla.
