Patty size for smash burgers?

Good afternoon

How big of a patty do you recommend for smash burgers?

4 oz? Smaller?

I would prefer to double patties up than have thicker (less classic smash burger).

I like em thin. 4 oz. to 6 oz. max. I do 4 oz. nice and thin caramelizing them in butter and do double decker sandwiches.

Same here, 4-6 oz tops for a perfect smash burger.
By the way, I am new to the craze, but we are sold on them. So good!!

We just did up a batch, we do 'em at 3.3oz, after a little experimentation.

But... that is for double-patty, double-cheese burgers. On a grilled brioche.

Are you doing for singles or doubles?

I like the 4 oz size , but if the beef has a higher fat content , Ill go a little bigger .

I like 2.5-3 oz because I prefer a double pattie burger but don’t have the metabolism that I used to.

I don't weigh them but I do make them from home ground chuck - fairly thin and square to fit my bread.
