Tonight is 12 Night/Knight..........

King Cakes were originally started baking tomorrow for the season! So grab ya a donut, a cup of coffee, and listen to the Mardi Gras tunes. I figured since they are all all old releases, and on Youtube free for all to listen to, it might be ok.

Its an exceptionally short season this year, but from now till then if you hear any of these tunes, in the car, the bar, at work, or in church... it perfectly acceptable to break into singing and dancing.

Hope ya have a great season......... Build a King Cake you'll meet new friends, throw purple yellow and green cheap dime store beads and the world will party with you. I wore beads in the bars in the real West Texas and after a very short ribbing the bars would all join into the party!

I never cared much for going to the parades because I don't like the crowds, especially when so much of the crowd is drinking, even if I was having a couple drinks. Guess it stems from my years in the MPs and my personality, keep your eyes open and be alert, head on a swivel, watch for signs before the trouble starts. Protection mode goes into overdrive when you are surrounded by hundreds of people, sober and drunk, who are liable to fight over a cheap trinket being thrown from a float. Maybe I should clarify that this is in New Orleans. Back when I lived in Kenner, I had a chance to ride in several parades and had a blast.
I enjoy the small town parades much more. They still have the chicken runs during the local parades for the gumbo cook afterwards.
And they started selling crawfish around here last week, but then I am slap in the middle of crawfish farming country.

Ahhhhh......... my friend I believe your chicken run would be the Courir de Mardi Gras? Basically the Acadiana country Mardi Gras. After years of good Mardi Gras "fellowship", I like both. In my youth it was the carnival, lots of friends and always lots of legal firearms. In my youth N.O. was pretty safe, by my college days it was a place to always know your surroundings, but so then was Lafayette, yes... Thibodeaux, even New Roads. Then I began enjoying the local Courir more........ A frat brother first introduced me to it in Rayne, well Church Point really. Its an all day party also, only on horseback. You try and keep the horses sober.

Crawfish , well its almost Easter! Just one month away.
