I was at a company meeting this past week and a lady who works for me had a little show and tell...this is not a joke.

She starts by saying she has had a problem with her tongue and speech all summer long and had been to see her Dentist, a family practitioner, and an ENT and relayed her symptoms to each. The dentist decided it was her wisdom teeth giving her problems and removed all four. The other two doctors were at a loss. Finally about a week ago she was driving down the road and felt something in her tongue and that moment she made a decision to get it out. She pulled over and was able to get a hold of it with her finger nails. What she then unraveled in the napkin completely changed how I now clean my grates.

She produced a single stainless steel wire from a grill brush about an inch or so long! She said she now knows exactly where it came from and when it happened. It was inside a piece of grilled chicken from a friends house. Needless to say that when I got home this week I ditched my grill brushes for one that looks more like a scouring pad.

It was simply painful to look at it!

Wow, now thats got ta be an odity, I use the brass ones myself, let them grates get good an hot then hit em with the brush, always rattel em a few times ta help anythin loose ta come off. One a them rare thins I guess.

i recently heard about a guy on another forum that had the same thing happen but his got lodged in his throat.he had to go to th hospital for surgery to remove it.they said if it had been a little further it would have hit his jugular

Awhile back I did a post on chicken jerky, Afterwords when I pulled some from the freezer I did also find some of them thin wires on it. I bought a new brush, but am still concerned with this happening again. They could be a pain in the a^^ the next day.

I kinda thought about the same thing!

How the .... didn't she feel it go in ? Good lord that hurts me just thinking about it !

That's how she knows where she picked it up. Said she thought at first she had bitten into a piece of glass but spit it out but didn't find anything and then she thought she must have broken a tooth hence the dentist. The way it slurred her "L" sounds some folks thought she had a light stroke!

So much for modern medicine!

And even less for the diagnostic process. WOW

Now, tell me, just who can ya trust?

Happy to hear that all worked out for the best! But I must echo Texas-Hunter; Good thing you were not subjected to an MRI!

Cheers, I think

Kinda surprising that no one could see a piece of SS wire on an xray

. Doesn't say much for the docs she was seeing.
