I think we need to have a dedicated section where we can admittedly post up our foul-ups. This just came to mind after using my new food processor to make bread crumbs from day-old baguette. Everything went well until I decided to lay them on a sheet and give them just a hint of toasting under the broiler.... see where this is going?

We all post up our perfect pics, let's have a place to show we are human and therefore do not think...

Directions: lay crumbs on a sheet and place under broiler for about 3 or 13 minutes..

Lol! I try not to take pictures of things like these.

The most fun part is the cleanup after messing something up.

It happens. l once Burnt up $100 of Pine Nuts in a similar manner. Head Chef was not happy! Just a note...99% of recipes using bread crumbs brown them as part of the cook. Think Mac and Cheese. Put already toasted bread crumbs on that and bake it, you will end up with a charcoal topped dinner...JJ

I was more along the line of using them as a late prep finish or garnish where I just wanted to add a little crunch.  I was just seeing how I can repurpose baguette bread by making crumbs which worked out well.

The bread crumbs varied in consistency so I wanted to toast off the bigger pieces. Bottom line, I left the kitchen with a gas broiler on.

Big mistake.

Got it. A tossing in a nonstick pan works for small batches. To store, make sure bread crumbs are really dry. I once ground what l thought were stale rolls. Some were not completely dry and l ended up with a 5 gallon bucket of Green Mold Dust.

OH no! I ain't posting none of my screw ups. (I could fill this thread all by myself!!)

The best, or worst, I've seen on SMF was the smoked cheese fail. That was epic.

I remember that one.. it was quite the clean up..

Maybe instead of OOPS, there could be a FAIL area..
