So I'm layed up and have to stay in bed for a few week. I have been watching a marathon of pit masters ... So I just so some guy mix like 6 onions in the fire box with the wood.
He said it adds extra flavor to the smoke ring!!
Have you ever heard of that?
Side note: how does Myron Mixon buy hats? With a big head like he has??

It's quite possible that it does. I know when I use sagebrush in my cooking fire when we camp the food takes on the flavor of the sage.

I've also heard people using citrus peels in the firebox... I've never tried it, but there might be something to it.

Onions in the fire is also a great way to attract customers. The aroma is incredible. I'd heard about it and tried it once while camping. Not sure how much flavor it added, maybe some, but the entire campground smelled delicious.
