Can you use the roots of fruit( Cherry) or any other tree?

I don't see why you couldn't, never thought of it. I assume they require a pretty long seasoning time though.
 
I have used mesquite roots and see no reason why other woods would be any different.
 
I used the roots from an apple tree we had cut down a couple of years ago. It took a VERY long time to season the roots, but they worked fine.
