Hello everyone. My actual name is Bill but you may have guessed from from screen name I love Archery. I got into smoking meats back when I was a kid with my Dad in the 60's. Back in the mid 80's built my own smoker following tips from an old time smoker my father in-law used to smoke lake trout. I was a 50 gallon up-right drum. I made many modifications with it and enjoyed smoking everything I could think of.

Thanks to forums like this one I'm starting to build a new model from a hospital blanket warmer. I have started a thread in the build-up section so hope you will visit it and answer my questions.

I'm up in Wisconsin and proud to be a Cheese Head.

Love all the information here on Smoking Meats forum. Where was this in the 70's? Were was the PC and the internet when I needed it??

Happy Smoking

Welcome to the SMF Family...I have to agree on where was the internet when I needed it. Back in the 70's I saw my first smoker in action. A homemade Drum smoker, burning sticks and twigs to smoke Whiting. The guy that built it was an awesome fisherman, but looking back on the event knew nothing about Smoking. It was ok but hardly resembled the Golden skin and flaky goodness that came from a local Deli...JJ
