... Yep, that's me... the new guy...LOL I stumbled on this fine forum earlier today and figured I'd join the fun! I'm pretty much a knewb to smoking.... I have watched video, after video, after video of the ways and hows of smoking... I previously owned, what I have heard referred to as, a ECB... El Cheepo Brinkman... I think I smoked 3 pieces of meat with it... It ended up in the trash... Seriously, what a POS... Maybe there are better models, but I had the "Gourmet"... HAHAHAHAHA The stupid thing doesn't even have vents in it! Anyway... 3 pieces of meat and about 2 years later... I am the proud owner of a 22 inch WSM... And let me tell you... I couldn't be happier!... I haven't smoked with it yet, but ran a dry run last night and held perfect temp with minimal fiddling... I'll be doing a small roaster tomorrow...
Anyway... Name here is Eric... I live in the N/E corner of Connecticut... "The Quiet Corner"... I love the Blues, and occasionally, have been known to do an internet Blues radio show... I have a feeling I just might have to start that up again...LOL

Peace, Love, and Bar-B-Que
Eric

to SMF!!! We're happy you found us! You've come to the right place, there's lot's of great people here who love to share and help each other out! Sounds like you're off to a good start, the WSM is a highly respected smoker around here and doing a dry run was great thinking, a good way to get to know your smoker before you risk any meat in it!

You might want to check out Jeff's Free 5 day E-course, it will teach you all the basics and a whole lot more: http://www.smoking-meat.com/smoking-basics-ecourse.html

First of all... Thanks for all the warm welcomes! Second, I wanted to say I just figured out where I got the term ECB (El cheepo Brinkman).... I was just watching tulsajeff's youtube videos... Specifically, "How to Smoke a Turkey - Prepare the Smoker" I originally watched this video 2 years ago, and have used that term since... It's funny... 2 years later I find myself on this BB!

Thanks again!
