TX cottage food law is simple BUT kind of infuriating too. The annoying parts.... you can sell approved items you make at home BUT you have to hand every item to the customer YOURSELF!!! Also you cannot wholesale any of it, ugh.

Those 2 restrictions make it to where you cannot do any considerable volume of business... legally hahaha.

Congrats!! I looked into cottage licenses a while back for beer, and it was quite difficult! In my county, you work to schedule a docket item and have to like present to a council where they approve you, etc...

So that's got to be a big deal for you!

I was told initially "you can't do that." Sure enough, in the county documentation it wasn't in the "approved uses" for my zone. Then a few months later, I looked at the county permit records and found another person who got permission to do that. I called back and said: "Hey, what about this guy?"

Then they backtracked and said: "Well, blah blah blah, if you do this and this and that, you can get approval." And that's what I did. Would've got it too, until I realized I couldn't afford the $2000/yr permit fees, lol.

In any case, maybe you can similarly search the county records and be surprised.

Awesome now its legal. As chili said donations that's the way I use to buy milk the farmer wasn't selling milk I gave him a donation for a gallon.

KY is about the same as other states. Under the cottage permit I can only sell baked goods, breads, pies, cakes, dry herbs, granola products, popcorn, jams, jellies and eggs. No meats or cheese, thats under another type of license. meats have to be done in a commercial kitchen under the usda stamp...naaaaaa

Selling eggs here in Canada is a big no no unless you are commercial. This is why all bars got rid of thier pickled eggs that they used to make. Health inspectors told them get rid of them or we will shut you down.

Last year I stopped at the local Friday Market. An artisan bakery was there so I bought a boule of sourdough. It looked pretty. Well as the old adage, looks can be deceiving. $10 for a tasteless under-cooked lump. I went back the next week and complained. Probably hurt the feelings of the proprietor , uh proprietess or whatever it was when I refused a free replacement.
I see they don't have a booth anymore.

Yeah lots of bakers that just wanna sell. I want to have them say oh man that bread is good. So far no complaints but to the general public it's a diff story. When I bake bread I dont take from the oven until I have an IT between 205-210..

Now I just have to print labels.
One the eggs they just want you to sell clean eggs in a clear or plain carton, must be in a cooler and the cartons have to be clear or plain no label type of paper carton, the cooler cant sit on the ground, must be elevated.
