Noobie from FL

Just found this site courtesy of a friend on a photography site and looking forward to learning to smoke. I have been cooking on charcoal grills for about 40 years and recently discovered I like smoked fish (I fish a LOT!) & meat, I plan to buy my first smoker in the next 60 days and it will NOT involve gas or electricity.  That is all I know about my future purchase so far. I am looking forward to learning all I can from everyone and proving to my friends that even a woman can smoke meat fantastically!

Welcome welcome.  Glad you have arrived and definitely loving the fact that got someone else wanting to burn wood.  I like it though gas or electric is easier to set and go.  I am loving the challenge of running the smoker and making sure it stays the right temp range.  Makes me feel a lot better especially when people tell me they like my bbq better than a buddy of ours who uses an electric smoker.

As such where in FL are you?  And this is definitely the best place to learn about smoking.  Enjoy and have a great memorial day weekend.

Thanks! but if you update it in your profile it will show up on all your post in the upper right corner. Actually this is something TulsaJeff (the owner of the forum) has asked us to do:

We are looking to run a query on the database to see how many members we have in different areas of the country and across the globe. This will be important for planning meet ups, gatherings and events. We don't need specifics such as what part of town you live in or even what town you live in if you are uncomfortable with that, but we would like for you to at least insert a state and maybe even a region of the state.

As in Northeast Oklahoma or even Tulsa area, Oklahoma and that would have been equally good.

It will also be fun to see what states and areas have the largest representation here at SMF.. We will post that information once we have it.

It also help us to know the climate you live in if you have any smoking questions.

Could you help us out with this?
