I record several shows that I watch late at night and I would loose that without YT.
Yup . I set everything I like to record . So If I start watch in the workshop , I can come up stairs and restart from where I left off . New streaming service would be the same , but you lose what you already have stored by switching .
Looks like for now keeping YT TV and turning on an NFL app monthly as needed then we'll see about next season, next month etc.
Yeah . Only thing I watch on espn is Sunday countdown , and MNF . I like the Manning cast , but that's ESPN 2 .
I saw Sling has a 24 hour deal for $4.99 . That works for MNF probably . Son has Disney plus . Gonna see how much to add the ESPN / TV part of it , and maybe piggy back on him for the rest of the season . Had some shows on ABC , but can figure out ant. for that I guess .

I think Disney is the likely bad guy this time around. They are trying to push people to their new streaming app.

Sort've this.

Disney is protecting their new streaming app, ESPN Unlimited. YT TV wants to launch a skinny sports bundle at a lower price point that includes ESPN Unlimited.

Fubo is suppose to be doing this, may have already. But Fubo recently merged with Disney.

And YT TV wants the same rate as Comcast cable or Spectrum, which are considered big boys in content. They're paying a higher rate now.

Those are the two bargaining points.

The one weekend that notre dame plays on an espn network and this happens haha. I agree with others I feel like this is a ESPN/Disney issue. Ik not willing to give them any money for their own streaming app since I feel like they have been going down hill the past few years with a lot of things we won’t get into. But I agree with chopsaw chopsaw no Erin Dolan is a disaster haha

And also, from the Disney standpoint , they're gonna combine Fubo with Hulu Live TV to create a product that will compete with YT TV, who at the present time are dominating the live tv streaming market.

Just me, who is just another molecule in the universe, I don't see where YT TV has much leverage. I'd like to see the numbers on how many dropped YT TV to subscribe to ESPN Unlimited, as I did.

Just my wife and I here, but she finds most of her viewing on Netflix. Me, I don't watch TV much except for sports. And I can find content I like on ad supported free streamers like Tubi or Pluto. I've been watching BBQ Pitmasters on Tubi. Along with some of the older Steven Raichlen shows.

For us, the standalone sports apps from ESPN and Fox have been a great bargain.

I've also found that " on demand " is replacing a lot of the need for a DVR.

I'VE HAD DISH-TV FOR OVER 20 YEARS NOW. I HAVE A BETMGM ACCOUNT, HAD A LOCAL BOOKIE BEFORE SPORTS BETTING BECAME LEGAL, PRETTY MUCH GET ALL THE MAJOR SPORTS. I DVR MOST GAMES FOR THE FIRST HOUR SO I DON'T HAVE TO SIT THRU THE CONSTANT COMMERCIALS THAT HAVE RUINED WATCHING GAMES, CAN'T DO THAT WITH AMAZON, HATE THEM FOR THAT. AT AGE 74 THERE'S LESS AND LESS OF WHAT I CAN DO BUT I CAN STILL PARK MY ASS IN A RECLINER AND WATCH TV. WHAT ATHLETES GET PAID AND WHAT IT COSTS TO GO TO ANY GAME HAS GOTTEN RIDICULOUS, THAT'S THE WORLD WE LIVE IN NOW. EVERY GAME IS A SPECTACLE WITH STUPID SONG AND DANCE AND LOADS OF MEANINGLESS STATISTICS. WE PAY DISH ABOUT $175 A MONTH, A LOT LESS THAN IT COSTS TO GO TO ANY PRO GAME THESE DAYS AND I NEVER HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT SITTING NEXT TO SOME SCREAMING MORON. SOMEBODY HAS TO PAY FOR ALL THESE HIGH SALARIES AND COMMERCIALS, WE SIT AT THE BOTTOM OF THE POLE, SO WE'RE THE ONES THAT PAY. PRETTY SIMPLE REALLY, BUT IT STILL SUCKS! RAY
My Dish bill just went up to $122 from $116. I only have the flex pack with locals added. There are a couple of channels we would like on higher tiers...a couple...not worth the extra money, and I have zero sports addiction so I dont need any of that. $14 dollars of that is two extra Joeys in bedrooms.

If the DishAnywhere app was worth a crap, I could eliminate those, but trying to pause and resume on the app, whether recorded or live locks the app up. I despise commercials in general. I can deal with them if I have the TV on nothing particularly special while in the kitchen, but sitting there to watch a show, the DVR has ruined me for years now for watching commercials. People that never had a DVR dont get it. Even my mom, she saw my DVR in action, yet still refused to get it added to their dish at the time and would sit there and just switch around to several channels when commercials would come on! They could afford any Dish setup and package they wanted, but old dogs dont like new tricks...kind of like US here.

We dont care to chase around all the apps, we just want to turn on the TV and there it is. But when the wife finally says the cost is more than her desire to watch what we get, we'll pull that plug. Until then, we can afford what we have, why complicate it to save $40 a month? If we hit harder times, it will make more sense.
I think Disney is the likely bad guy this time around. They are trying to push people to their new streaming app.
Disney IS the bad guy, for reasons far more important than this.
Same, I poked around a little to see if I could find a couple shows I watch daily and struck out. the DVR is something I use A LOT. My wife can go to bed early and sleep late. I cant. I record several shows that I watch late at night and I would loose that without YT.

Looks like for now keeping YT TV and turning on an NFL app monthly as needed then we'll see about next season, next month etc.
I like that YTTV has a cloud DVR, but recordings vaporize after 9 months. Not an issue for most people, but I had recordings of concerts and stuff on my last Dish DVR for well over a decade that I still watched, until the DVR crashed. There is a way to add an external hard drive to move content to that but I never got off my arse to do it before the crash. People tout the on-demand and streaming, but I have never been able to go and find the most important of those recordings anywhere since, including even buying a DVD.

Dish recordings are also local, you can still watch them even if the internet goes down. Not trying to sell Dish, just batting the services conversation back and forth. I've been seriously considering YTTV too, but the wife is even slower to change than me, and man, if they ever had a dispute with Hallmark like this Disney thing, that would not be good...but, there IS a streamer for that too!

Fubo Added Over 275,000 Subscribers in The 3rd Quarter of 2025

“Fubo’s third quarter 2025 results reflect the strength of our execution and the growing demand for flexible, fan-first streaming,” said David Gandler, co-founder and CEO of Fubo. “We delivered record third quarter subscriber growth in North America and our second consecutive quarter of positive Adjusted EBITDA—clear proof our model is working. New offerings like our Fubo Sports skinny service and Pay-Per-View platform are giving consumers more choice and control than ever. And, as we combine with the Hulu + Live TV business, we’re poised to create a next-gen Pay TV company – built for scale, personalization and profitability. We’re energized by what’s ahead and remain focused on delivering value for viewers, shareholders and our programming partners.”

Here's the Fubo skinny sports package, this is what YT TV is trying to compete with , when they launch a skinny package , but it won't work without ESPN Unlimited.

But I've read some things about Fubos picture quality, and whether they use 4K , as YT TV does.

AI Overview

Fubo Sports is
a new, less expensive "skinny" streaming package from Fubo that focuses on sports channels. It costs approximately $56 per month after an introductory first month, includes over 20 sports and local broadcast networks like ESPN, Big 10 Network, and NFL Network, and comes with features like unlimited DVR and the inclusion of ESPN Unlimited. This plan is designed for sports fans who want a more focused and affordable alternative to Fubo's larger channel bundles.

Key features
  • Cost: Approximately
    $56$ 56
per month after a first-month promotional price of
    $46$ 46
    .
  • Content: Includes over 20 sports-focused networks such as ESPN, ESPNU, Big 10 Network, CBS Sports Network, FS1, and NFL Network, plus local ABC, CBS, and Fox stations in select markets.
  • Included Streaming: Comes with ESPN Unlimited, a streaming service that includes ESPN3 and SECN+.
  • Features: Offers unlimited cloud DVR, on-demand content, and Family Share for multiple screens.
  • Channel lineup: Strips out many non-sports channels found in Fubo's other packages.

How it compares to other Fubo plans
  • Fubo Sports is a much cheaper option than Fubo's standard Pro or Elite plans, which have significantly more channels and cost over
    $80$ 80
    and
    $100$ 100
    per month, respectively.

Who it's for
  • This plan is ideal for viewers who want to cut costs while still having access to a wide range of live sports and dedicated sports networks, without paying for channels they don't watch.

I signed up for Fubo yesterday .
Right off the bat I noticed the picture quality was not good .
I do pay up for the 4K package on YouTube , but even without that , YT looks and streams way better . The buffering is bad for me on Fubo . The 4K package from YT allows unlimited seats and UHD 2160p if available . Normal stream is whatever the network puts out . 720p or 1080p . I get some stuff in 1440p too . Fubo does not like Sony Bravia 4K TV's .

ABC / ESPN streams at 720p unless they have special content , but even 720p looks better on YT .
I checked some other channels on Fubo , and they were 1080p , but it's grainy and glitches .
Not sure if it's the 60 refresh rate or what . My UHD TV's are 120 hz .

Sound downgrade as well .

Not trashing Fubo . Just my experience right off the bat . I won't be keeping it , and will just do without if that's what happens . I don't see ESPN / ABC on YT unless they offer it as an add on . Be to much $$ in a base package .

Fubo does have H&I . Heroes and Icons channel . I've been trying to get that for years .
Black sheep squadron , Tour of duty , Combat ! . Some really great shows from days gone by .

$7 to $15 a months gets NFL+. Im going with that. All I need is MNF, NFL+ gets me more than that.

Disney and all their BS can go get happy with themselves. From what I am reading most folks are pretty much done with Disney and their products. Me included.

I looked at so much crap yesterday I was ready to say hell with it . Where did you see NFL+ for 15 bucks ?
It's late enough in the season that MNF is about over . Gonna see today if I can get ABC over the air .

That's what I heard.

I suspect Disney will slowly merge Fubo into Hulu Live. I've no idea if that will improve the PQ .

Even in a skinny package at $56, Fubo is not worth the extra $16 a month it will cost me, just for a few channels that I would never watch.

An antennae with Tablo, along with ESPN Unlimited and Fox One fits what I need and that's $40 per month. And I don't know how long I'll keep the Fox One app, as I'm not using it much, at all.

BTW, I bought a Tablo several years ago and it became outdated. After a couple years of going without it, I just bought the new 4th Gen and its a big improvement. And there's no longer the monthly fee for the program guide.

Considering Almost 100% of that was included in the base YouTube TV package as recently as last month and for years prior no ones paying $50+ to get those channels back. I'll cancel and go back to Spectrum Cable on a one year intro deal if it's not straightened out soon.

I looked at Spectrum this morning $149.00 a month . I didn't get into it real deep . They have so many angles they could teach a geometry class .
One problem for me with Spectrum , is I have some TV's on fire sticks . I couldn't get the spectrum app for those . Unless it's changed .

I dont think I can deal with cable tv...I am pretty sure it requires a cable box here still.

They have streaming service . A smart TV should have the spectrum app , but like I mentioned above the non smart TV's on a firestick don't have the spectrum app available .

Nine Monday night games left . I can't stand to listen to Joe Buck , but if I can get ABC over the air I'll suffer through it . I'm ready to cancel Fubo right now , but I'll watch the game tonight and go from there .

I can't stand Joe Buck ether ...

You guys keep the info coming as I am thinking of getting rid of Directv ... Although I do like the ability to stream through them... Then when there is no internet I use a portable dish when camping (if the line of site is clear)...

RACING Network I get through a sports package with Directv... Does any of the streamers carry that channel ??
