NJ to Fla Road Trip - Best Stops

Looking for some stops for some good smoked eats on my drive to visit some family.  I will have some time to venture out a bit.

Where in Florida? 4 Rivers is a well known FL restaurant that has a few locations in Jacksonville and Orlando. They have some good items (including really good burnt ends).

I95 I'm assuming? There are some good places in VA. Saucy's walk up in Petersburg is supposed to be great. Buzz and Ned's in Richmond too.
Haven't really stopped for bbq much along the way, but we go to Saint Simons island in GA a couple times a year and can highly recommend both the Beachcomber and Southern Soul. Southern Soul has gotten a little more upscale and "foodie hipsterish" but the bbq is still good. The Beachcomber is still a dive and the food and patio are great. Plus they have Sweetwater on tap.

Also in Saint Simons Hot Dog Alley is kinda fun. Just a little hot dog stand but the dogs are good and the price is right. In neighboring Brunswick is Willie's Wee-Nee wagon. It's kinda a local legend and has really good dogs and is famous for their pork chop sandwich.

Thanks for the tips.  We're heading to the Davie area in Fla but plan to tour around a bit.

There is also a Sabatier factory outlet at exit 32 in SC. I think the town is called Yemassee.

Not familiar with the BBQ along the way but when you get to the NC/SC border stop at a place called South of the Border. There are a number of interesting establishments there.

southern soul in st simons was mentioned, it is good, also 4 rivers is good, but the one is Jacksonville just closed, the owner said he was just tired of no life, worked all the time, seemed to have a good business though.
