it's harder for me to use this computer. want to say this seems to be a great knowlege base willing to help someone get started. been bbq anything and all things 40 years. but never used a smoker. so any tips from anyone that may have this type of smoker would be great.

Artie, morning and welcome to the forum.....   glad you found us and stopped in.....   We do have a great knowledge base and our members love helping folks make the best Q in their neighborhoods...    enjoy the long smokey ride...

About the MES 40....  One thing, the displayed temps are usually off several degrees....  It would help you with proper temperature cooking to get a "cabled" thermometer to know the real temp inside your new smoker.... Some smokers are off as much as 25 degrees... once you learn the "offset" in the temp you are good to go.... doesn't really present a problem but there is a learning curve...

I own (4) MES 40's, so won't hear me laugh.....

Welcome!
