I'll be picking it up this afternoon. It is a masterbuilt pro from Home depot. Does anyone have one of these? Any advice for a beginner? Is this a descent smoker for a beginner? I was leaning electric then this popped up this morning and I thought it seemed like a descent deal so here we are...

Nice!! I've owned 2 propane smokers and they are great for beginners. A couple of tips would be pick up a good wireless thermometer like a Maverick or Inkbird. I usually never trust the door thermometers (one of mine was off by 50deg, thought i was at 225 actually only at 175) And stop by the grocery store on your way home and stock up on whatever meat you can find.

Welcome and congrats! I started on a Masterbuilt propane smoker and had pretty good results on it. It was easy to learn and had plenty of space. One thing that I did towards the end of using it heavily was not to mess around with the recommended chips and just use wood chunks instead. If they catch fire on you too much from the flame, wrap/shield them in foil or just use a CI pan on top of the burner.

I also would recommend that every now and again (like at the start of each season) you clean out the hose that connects the gas to the burner. Gets rid of the spiders and keeps the flame nice and blue!

I have no idea how the charcoal works on these things though.

Good luck and enjoy!

Congrats on the new smoker. I have a propane rig but not this model. Jcap gave you some pretty good advice. You already got some pretty good advice above. Go with chunks for sure and don't trust the door thermometer. You should be producing some good Q before you know it!

My son and I put it together. Easy to assemble. From opening the box to assemble about an hour. We’ll season it tomorrow if it doesn’t rain.
