Hey there everybody! I'm a newbie from SoCal who stumbled on your website while researching smokers. Currently, I'm debating between the new MES40 and the WSM 22.5. Unfortunately, I can't view either in person as stores in my area don't seem to carry hardly anything smoker-related (except the Brinkmann smoker-n-Grill). Any suggestions are appreciated! I'm just a mom trying to cook for her family and am not really into doing a lot of mods (better with a mixer than a drill). Excited to start this new journey with you all!

Good morning and welcome to SMF! Glad you found us!

I've owned an MES 40 for 2 yrs or so and I really like it. Easy to use, (once you you figure out if and how much the actual cabinet temp is off from the set temp-so accurate thermometers are needed). It's great for cold smoking cheeses, bacon, etc when paired with one of our sponsor's/member A-MAZE-N smoker products ( http://www.amazenproducts.com/Default.asp  ), as well as hot smoking pork, beef and other foods.

I know other members have WSMs and like them. Have a look around, do some reading and enjoy!
