Hello all. I'm new to this site but not forums all together so I guess I know what its like to be reading some unproven newbie's intro message. Anyways heres a bit about myself. I spend most of my free time hunting whitetail deer or fishing for steelhead on the tributaries of Lake Erie . I live about 40 minutes east of Cleveland. Not the suburbs but not farm lands either. I hunt in Geauga county which is very much so an agricultural county. I have a great interest in cooking what I seek to kill and it drives me to be the best cook I can. I'm fairly new to smoking meats and have had my hand-me-down smoker for only 1 year. My fishing buddy gave me a "POP GEER" TOTEM smoker from the 80's. Hardly a nice smoker but it gets the job done. So far I have smoked steelhead fish, venison shoulders, venison roasts and other venison parts. It actually works pretty well. In my search for good info on how to smoke venison shoulder I found this site and here I am haha

Welcome chadnicoletti to the forum. Some of those old smokers were built to last.
