thanks for the help guys.i ended up welding the piece i cut back in place and ill make a new cut.i figured if i welded the piece back in i could lower the cut and gain some space between the reverse flow plate and the cooking grate..im sure ill have more questions as i go,hope you guys dont mind..

posting a few pics, trying to get the door so its near perfect.the tank had a few dents in it to start with right along the door line.its getting close but not good enough yet.

thanks.i didnt use any heat in those pics,it wasnt needed.i did however have to use some heat on the very edge as it was creased and dented before i even cut the door out.

got to work on the smoker for a little bit tonight.got the new box to chamber opening cut and did some trim work to the door.then i had the scare of my life, yikes.once i finished up i closed the garage door and one of the spring decided to break and almost take my head off.im still shookin up..

thanks!! after cleaning out the inside of the tank i found some rot holes so decided to scrap the tank. found another tank for free thats in better shape so i started over.ill have to get some updated pics and get them posted.i sure wish the tanks were 1/4" but they are only 1/8th.these give me good practice so when i do find a 1/4 pipe or tank ill be able to perfect the build,lol..

got to work on the smoker most of the morning.ended up getting the fire box welded to the chamber, got the legs welded on and also got my angle iron and drain installed for the rf plate.ill try and get pics tomorrow for all to see..

I used about the same amount, the more I look the more "it looks about right" seems to apply to each build because every one is just a little different.

cooked some ribs tonight.they came out pretty good just a tad under cooked. the smoker worked pretty much perfect, started with a chimney full of lump and added some apple chunks for some good smoke, had to add another chimney of lump towards the end of the cook.i was so hungry for the ribs i forgot to take pics of the finished product.

thanks guys. the temp help pretty much steady at 225 with the air intakes open about a 1/4 of the way each. the ribs were left on for 4hrs but they were a bit under cooked.this weekend ill have about 6 racks smoking, does it take more cook time with the more racks you have on, or is it pretty much still 4.5 hrs?
