Just purchased a Dyno-Glo vertical charcoal smoker (first one) . Assembled it soon after it was delivered, before I went in to work yesterday morning. Attempting to smoke a pork butt in the am. Any advice?

You should do a initial burn in (seasoning) before you add meat to it. Doesn’t sound like you have much time but I would at least run some charcoal at 300* or so for a couple hours before you put the meat in. This will get rid of an contaminated that was used when manufactured, like oil and other crap. I’m not sure what temp that smoker is rated for, just don’t go over that and you should be good

Cook it till about 200 degrees IT
once its there wrap it up and let it rest for a couple hours then you should be at shredding temperature
be patient and remember if your looking you aint cookin!

relax and enjoy the smoke!

Happy Smoking,

Hi and welcome to the site. That's a good choice for a first smoke. Pork butts are very forgiving so no need to drive yourself crazy chasing temp. fluctuations.

Welcome to SMF!
I find mine take about 205 until they are ready.
The bone should slide out clean.

Welcome from Wisconsin. :emoji_cat: Good luck, I cut my teeth on a Dyna-Glo. It will put out some good Q but it takes a lot of tending. Also, agree with other posters that you should burn the cabinet in before you start cooking food in it.
