New to smoking

Hello everyone, my name is John and I recently got my first smoker. It's a Master built electric smoker, the question I have is I'm going to preseason it in the near future and when doing this should I speak mu wood chips or leave them dry to preseason? Any help will be greatly appreciated and I look forward to sharing my experiences going forward. Thanks!!!!

I never soaked my chips in my MES 30 when I used them. The chip loader is kind of a pain and needs more chips added every 30 to 45 minutes. I would highly recommend using a pellet tube or tray. Pick whatever pellets you like and you won’t have to mess with it for 6 to 12 hours.

My smoker was awarded to me from my employer for 5 years of service, I didn't have a choice in which I got.

C Cablepup1980 look at pellet tubes for smoke production. They last many hours.

Dont soak the chips, they will steam before they smoke. I use the chip tray but many suggest getting an AMNPS tray for the MES.

You don't ever want to soak your chips. Just use them as they come.
I've been a MES smoker for years and I use pellets instead of chips for convenience and simplicity. Do a search here for the AMNPS and Mailbox Mod. You'll never regret making that change.
