I'm new to smoking and decided to get a masterbuilt electric smoker to do a turkey in for thanksgiving, I just need to know how big of a turkey I can do in this smoker, its the 30 in model
Hey... you started in general discussions.. You can go in the roll call and introduce yourself also.. It's all good.. So many people have those smokers here it's not funny.. Good choice..
I have a little charcoal smoker so not sure if you can do a Turkey in the Masterbuilt 30..
I would say you can do one if you can get it to go 325° for 6 hours.. or smoke it a couple hours and finish it in the oven higher temperatures..
Anyway.. good fun and Good luck.. welcome to the SMF ..

Maybe you can brine your turkey in salt and sugar water for a day.. with some seasonings.. Big pot or bucket ..in the cold fridge.. peppercorns and garlic.. Some bay leaf...all that jazz.. Then let the turkey air dry a few hours before you smoke it.. Smoke it a few hours in your smoker and finish it in the oven like normal.. Get it up to a good 165 or 175 safe temperatures how your supposed to.. It's not easy to do turkey all day as your first couple smoking experiences.. lol.. I say finish it in the oven to be safe.. Smoking it all day is so tricky..
