Hey y'all, thanks for all advice in advance! I'm new to the owlet world, and my first cook wasn't so great. Has any one experienced chicken finishing with a moldy taste? It sounds odd but the flavor started good, but finished w a mold aftertaste. I followed the directions and pre burned the smoker. Cooked for 1.75 hours on 250. I used lumberjack competition pellets, on a green mountain smoker. Am I the only one who's had this happen??

Good afternoon and welcome to the forum from a beautiful sunny day here in East Texas, and the best site on the web.

Lots of great people with tons of information on just about everything.

Welcome to the Forum and pellet smoking.  I cook chickens all the time on my Traeger but have never had a moldy taste.  I usually low temp smoke my chickens (225) for a 1/2 hour or so then crank the temp up to 425 to get the breast temp up to 160.   This high temp gets the skin crispy also.   I end up with a nice chicken with a little smoky flavor. I have never used Lumberjack pellets so not sure on that.
