New to Pellet grills - want to achieve smoke flavor like propane grill

I just got a GMG DB pellet smoker last night and got the fruitwood pellets from the dealer to try out.  I burned in the new unit last night and didn't get that good sweet smoke smell like I used to with the apple/ hickory blend I used with my old smoker.

Will I be able to get this if I get some 100% wood pellets of apple and hickory and mix them up?  What brands of pellets should I go after for this?  Im also looking for some places to buy them from in Omaha, NE if anyone has any leads.
