Hello my name is Jim W and I live in Richardson, Texas. I have just purchased a Master Forge 2 door propane smoker. I have been a grill er for many years and have dabbled in smoking meats but have never owned a smoker until now. I am in need of some help, the only thing that came in the box was how to put the darn thing together but not how to season it or any thing like that. I hope that this will be the first of many conversations on the art of smoking meat. I look forward to your response for sure!!

Welcome. I have the same smoker and love it after some simple mods. Use the handy search bar and look up master forge mods or just plain old master forge and you should find some help. Anything you can't find feel free to PM me and I hope I can be of some assistance.

To season your smoker, just fire it up and let it run at about 250* for a couple of hours, add some wood chips at about an hour in and let it smoke. This is a good time to play around with it to get to know it, adjusting temps, adding chips or chunks to see how they burn. It's good to get to know your smoker before you put any meat in it so when you do you have a good idea of what it's going to do and what you need to do.
