Hey guys, brand new to smoking here. I have experience grilling, but have became interested in the art of smoking with in the past month. Today is my birthday and my wonderful girlfriend surprised me with a nice starter charcoal smoker so I can get my feet wet. Any advice you can give me would be much appreciated, like what to start of cooking first to get the hang of things. Really excited to join the wonderful community of guys.

to SMF!!! We're happy you found us! That's a great gift! There's a lot of great people here who will help you along your journey! One of the easiest and best to get started with is chicken, it's cheap, it doesn't have to go a long time, you can cook at higher temps. This will allow you to learn how your smoker works and start to get the hang of it. There are a lot of great chicken recipes and methods on here, just use the search bar at the top.

Would you do us a favor and update your location in your profile, it helps others when they offer advice, Thanks!

And always remember "We are here for you" so any problems or questions just ask!
