I got a new Smoke Hollow PS4400 from Sam's club.

I seasoned it and it went fine.

I smoked some ribs today but ran into some problems.

When I first started the smoker everything went well. I wasn't able to maintain 225 with both burners on in the beginning but I got a handle on it with only one burner and everything was going fine.

Then I ran out of  propane and swapped to another tank.

When I swapped the tank I didn't bother to turn off the dial on the smoker.

I just added the new tank, turned it on and pushed the ignite button.

Once I switched tanks I couldn't get the temp over 180 degrees. even with both burners on high.

I realize I was doing this in the middle of a Nor'easter but I had no problem hitting temps of 250 earlier in that same Nor'easter.

Can anyone shed some light on as to why this happened?

I'm guessing when you switched tanks, you might have jostled the safety valve that shuts the tank off when it falls over.  I've dropped them to the ground too hard and done this.  I'd get just enough gas to light the burner, but not get anything out of them.  I would have to turn the main tank valve on and off until I heard the "click" of the safety valve.  Then, I would get full flow.

A lot of comercial propane cookers have a pressure safety switch.

Try removing the hose from the tank, shut everything off and reattach the hose. I wiggle mine slightly as I am tightening the threaded collar. Then go through the process of restarting the burners...
