hi guy,

go the slicer I wanted for Christmas!!! thus i have questions...
  • for slicing raw beef for jerky;
    • smooth or serrated blade?
    • do i partially freeze the meat first or is that really important?
  • what are the main uses for;
    • smooth blade?
    • serrated blade?

many thanks!

I partially freeze the meat, and use the smooth blade for slicing. Never had a bad result with this method.

partially freeze; like 30-45 minutes in the freezer for an eye of the round? something like that?

Serrated blade is supposed to be for bread i do believe
seems right. weird that is the one it comes with. I may be biased but, who would buy a slicer to slice bread as its primary purpose? call me crazy. :)

I used the smooth blade exclusively for years, but lately have been slicing bread so switched back to the serrated. Turns out that works well for meats and cheese too. But for really thin slicing, the smooth is better.

great! thanks guys, im hopin got fire up a batch of jerky soon. but tomorrow we hit the slopes - big storm coming - should be a great way to ring in the new year!
