hi my name is jason. i'm from idaho. i own a cheap char-broil off set smoker i bought from walmart. i have been doing mods on it already. i have had fuel box for the fire box  and i have had a an extra rack made for it for more cooking space.getting more ideas for mods. through this site.i have postied some pics of my cooking. if you have any more question please feel free to message me on here
 
Welcome aboard.  I started with an off set and produced some pretty good BBQ with it. You might try lowering your exhaust to grate level and sealing any leaks as well.
