History of me; Happily married for 33 years this June and have two wonderful kids, (whom are grown and out on their own). Served 20 yrs in United States Navy then retired and moved back to my ole stomping grounds, Mid Michigan. I then worked as a Job Placement Specialist for 7 yrs assisting people with disabilities to achieve gainful employment in their community. After that ran its course, I moved on to Over the Road Trucking for 3.5 yrs. Started as a company driver, then leased a rig. The money was good, but you can't put a price on missing out on family activities. I was gone for 20 years in the service and then found myself away from family again. You miss out on so many things while away. Due to medical reasons, and my fathers health failing, I came off the road and started work as a home delivery driver for FEDEX. Did that for almost a year until my wife finished her degree and landed a lucrative job in her field as a Mental Health Therapist. Since she was making more money then me, and we were down to one vehicle, I decided to stay home and become a "Domestic Engineer". Cooking, Baking, Gardening, Preserving foods and now making sausages. I have made plenty of beef jerky for my over the road snacks and have now found a great interest in making sausages. I started keeping a log of the different varieties I have made and have recorded feedback from different family members that I use to "tweak" the recipe. My next step is building a smoker. I have done some research and have decided on what style of smoker to build. Once that is completed, I plan on smoking bacon, brisket, ribs, sausages, beef sticks, fish, wild game, cheese and many more items. I can't wait! I'm so glad I came across this web page. The information on here about the different types of items to make and how to go about doing it has been outstanding. Very informative. I hope to some day contribute to the vast amount of knowledge this web page provides. Thanks for allowing me to join.
