Hi,

I got a smoker for Father's day about two years ago. Best Present EVER! It is from a company, Smokin-it. Simple electric metal box with wood chip box in bottom and two racks. I have smoked: Turkey, chicken, brisket, salmon, etc. Tonight we had a Tri-tip. Pretty good. Used a local 'Texas rub' and used pecan. Kids and wife devoured it.

I bought Jeff's book (The essential Guide to Real Barbecue, Smoking Meat) shortly after I got the smoker. It has helped a great deal.

Thanks Jeff!

Welcome to SMF Orthopa64!  Glad you are here.  You can only do right by Jeff's book!  There's nothing more satisfying that watching family and friends woof down your smoked protein.

Continue to have fun!

Welcome Ray.  This is a great place to exchange ideas and get help.

Sign up for Jeff's email newsletter as well.  Not sure if recipes differ that what's in his book, but definitely some good stuff.  Check out his rubs and sauce recipes as well.

Thanks! You are right. Nothing better than family and friends enjoying some good smoked deliciousness!
