I have been reading SMF for over a year now. Absolutely great site! I thought it would be best to post first in roll call before participating in other threads.
My past experience has been smoking with a Master Forge propane vertical smoker. After a few modifications it was enjoyable. I recently purchased a FEC PG500 grill/smoker and I plan on using it extensively this year! Obviously I'll be here often getting ideas of what to cook!
I thought I'd link a few pictures of the unit given some of the modifications made so its easier to use as I'm bound to a wheelchair:
Here are the modifications:

I thought I'd link a few pictures of the unit given some of the modifications made so its easier to use as I'm bound to a wheelchair:
Here are the modifications:
- Lowered front shelf. This is important for being able to reach into the unit while in a sitting position. Also is allows me the opportunity to rest my elbows while reaching into the unit. As a T3 paraplegic I lack stabilizing muscles in my stomach and lower back.
- Lowered side shelf. Great that I can reach items while the chamber is open! (Yes I haven't taken the cover off it yet)
- Casters: I can push or pull the unit it as needed.
- Handles rotated. I have yet to decide how they work best, but tilting them down gives me the opportunity to open the doors with less risk of burning my wrists. (Think the logistics of sitting while using this unit)
