I have one of those sharpeners and it is - AWESOME!

I've done some reading on the topic in other forums and there are some purists that say there is a better way, I'm sure they're right. But this thing works, it works fast, and it's simple. And I have the scars to prove it!

Got one for my birthday from my two boys (with the intention I'd come to their houses and sharpen their knives also, lol!).

And,.....

...it works great!  Sharpened a 6" boner, 8" carver and 12" cimeter; all got an excellent edge in only 6 - 8 strokes each side.  You can sharpen either left or right handed, but it is more oriented to right hand.  The only difficulty is trying to hold the blade next to the guide vertically; most any other could do it with ease; with me it was mildly difficult until I focused on that aspect a/c the strokes, then got the hang of it and it all sharpened very well!  They ordered it from Northern Tool, $69.99, free shipping.  Their site also shows in stock in most places, but they ordered it anyways (computer geeks - actually, they both are in the IT business and that is their SOP).

For anyone who wants a sharp edge easily and quickly and can't be technical for whatever reason, this tool is for you!  Oh, and BTW, if you register the product on line, you get a free set of replaceable belts shipped to you for free, and no shipping, either - totally free with registration!
