Wow temp on top rack 460. 100 degrees hotter than bottom and about 30* side to side.

That was on test burn let it run to see how hot it would get. Didn't think top rack would be that much hotter. Gota learn how to drive the new rig.
 
Looking good so far, what temp are you smoking at ?

Do you think fire grate is too tall all my embers fall to bottom and there's nothing to light new piece off of. Maybe I need a screen on grate to hold embers longer.
 
Throw a piece of expanded steel to the top of the grate and see what happens..... could work perfect......
 
I guess I'm going to have to use oak on something else for heat and apple for flavor.
