Hey yall, I've been smoking meat for about 5 years now, been doing it in anything that can hold heat. From a marketplace oil drum with a burn box to a halfway decent pellet smoker. My day job is a controls electrician, so I really want to get into the automation side of this hobby. Thanks for reading

"automation side" Can you elaborate on that? I might be reading this wrong but Pellet smokers are pretty automated.

As in making my own smokers and automating it myself, love pellets but It takes out some of the fun by buying someone elses work
 
Welcome from the KC area, but I have a son in Seattle, and visit there at least once a year. And we just returned from a vacation in Oregon. I'm a big fan of the PNW.
